Seagrass Coffins
As it suggests, this coffin is made from grass grown in the sea. However, many seagrass suppliers harvest from the wild (from the coasts off Africa) and are causing great damage to sealife habitats by doing so. These coffins are designed by a British company, and are made from seagrass grown in paddyfields in Indonesia that are flooded periodically by seawater - thus it is a renewable crop. The grass is spun to make a strong woven coffin which is then edged in cane, and there are 6 rope carrying handles. There are 2 styles: the traditional coffin shape; or the curved end shape. It comes in a variety of sizes.
